Congratulations to Dr. Idia Thurston, BSM Cohort 4, on receiving a 3 -year R21 grant from NIDDK.
From Dr. Thurston:
"I received a 3-year R21 grant from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) as Principal Investigator for my project entitled: The Impact of Stress and Resilience on Obesity-Related Metabolic Complications in Adolescents.
The major goal of this project is to examine differences in stigma, stress, and resilience between Black adolescents who have obesity without metabolic complications and matched control Black adolescents who have obesity with at least 2 metabolic complications.
I could NOT have gotten this grant without the mentorship, support, and feedback from my PRIDE cohort and mentors. This grant was the project I workshopped while at PRIDE and Dr. Jean-Louis is a co-investigator. Please let me know any more information needed."
