Position Summary: This faculty member will conduct research & teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Exercise Physiology. It is expected that the individual will have an active research agenda with applicants demonstrating potential for, or success in, external grant writing and grant funding. The successful applicant will be able to collaborate with, complement, and expand ongoing research in the shared Applied Physiology Laboratory (Drs. Caldwell, Deemer, Hill, McFarlin, Sprick, and Vingren). Tenured and tenure track faculty are expected to mentor Undergraduate and Graduate students in Kinesiology. Typical teaching load is two organized courses in each of the long semesters; optional summer teaching assignments are usually available. Experience teaching online and hybrid courses using Canvas or a similar learning management system is desirable.

Department Summary: The Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion & Recreation (KHPR) has over 1,300 undergraduate and 70 graduate students majoring in Kinesiology across several specializations. The Applied Physiology Laboratory housed in the department is a shared and collaborative research facility and includes multiple large, shared laboratory spaces with state-of-the-art equipment for the measurement of molecular, endocrine, immunological, and cellular biomarkers following various exercise or nutritional interventions. In addition, the Applied Physiology Laboratory also includes dedicated research spaces equipped with a variety of exercise equipment and procedure rooms for muscle and adipose biopsies, phlebotomy, measurement of metabolic variables (e.g., insulin clamp), indirect calorimetry, and body composition assessment (DXA and BIA). These facilities and equipment are available for shared use; information about facilities and equipment in the Applied Physiology Laboratory is available upon application and request.
