FTG - Dr. Athena Starlard-Davenport Presented at ASHG Meeting

Athena Starlard-Davenport, PhD, FTG cohort 5, presented at the ASHG meeting in DC and had the great privilege of speaking on the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion at the ASHG meeting alongside past ASHG President Dr. Charles Rotimi.  She also served as a panel speaker alongside Dr. Gibbons Head of NHLBI.  In her 10-minute talk, she briefly discussed her R01 and the importance of conducting research in sickle cell which does not get the same respect as cystic fibrosis.
