Lecturer position - Brooklyn College of the City University of New York

Brooklyn College of the City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position in the Department of Health and Nutrition Sciences (HNSC) with a starting date in August 2019.

HNSC is an interdisciplinary department with distinct degree programs in health and nutrition, and an ongoing interest in pursuing linkages between both. It is our mission to provide high quality, multidisciplinary teaching, research, and community service to foster an environment of academic excellence and professionalism for students and faculty; advance scientific knowledge relevant to health and nutrition and ensure that all students acquire the knowledge, skills, and values to make meaningful contributions. We currently offer a BA degree in Health and Nutrition Sciences, and a BS degree in Health and Nutrition Sciences  with concentrations in health science, public health, or thanatology, as well as a an ACEND accredited concentration in foods and nutrition. At the graduate level we offer an MA in Community Health, an MS in Nutrition, and an ACEND accredited Dietetic Internship.

The successful candidate is expected to:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in public and community health to both health and nutrition students
- Assist with the development of new courses and curricula as needed
- Advise and mentor students
- Share responsibility for committee and department assignments

QUALIFICATIONS

- A Bachelor’s level credential in public or community health, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Ability in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in public or community health is required.

Preferred Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in public or community health
- Experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in public or community health.
- Experience in mentoring or advisement
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas: public health; health administration and management; health and nutrition policy; community health education; program evaluation and needs assessment.

COMPENSATION

Salary commensurate with experience and credentials. All appointments are subject to financial availability.
