The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.
The Oregon Institute of Occupational Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to study the role of genetic variation in response to environmental stressors in human health and disease. This research program will complement the Institute's basic, applied, and translational researchers and their mission to promote the health, and prevent disease and disability among working Oregonians and their families throughout their lifespan.
Function/Duties of Position
The Oregon Institute of Occupational Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to study the role of cellular and physiological responses to psychosocial stress in health and disease. This research program will complement the Institute's basic, applied, and translational researchers and their mission to promote the health, and prevent disease and disability among working Oregonians and their families throughout their lifespan. The successful candidate will lead an experimental research program that leverages model organisms (e.g., rodents, non-human primates) to explore the role of psychosocial stress in cellular and physiological risk factors for disease. Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Social hierarchy and status as a predictor of physiological or cellular stress
- Social defeat or social isolation models of psychosocial stress
- Gene-environment interactions
- Next-generation sequencing or ‘omics approaches to determining mechanisms of psychosocial stress impacts on health and disease
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must have an MD and/or PhD or equivalent degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated excellence and accomplishments in research along with a desire for team oriented collegiality.
