The Department of Psychological Science at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology to start on 8/14/2023. This is a standard nine-month faculty appointment with a competitive startup package. We are seeking an inclusive and diverse pool of applicants and welcome applicants from all areas of Clinical Science. Although area of research is open, we prefer candidates whose research complements existing departmental research areas (see http://psyc.uark.edu, for more information). Successful applicants must have (1) a PhD from an APA- or CPA-accredited Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology program and be license-eligible in the state of Arkansas by the start date; (2) an outstanding record of research achievement and evidence of, or demonstrated potential for, external funding; (3) a strong commitment to both graduate training and undergraduate instruction; (4) demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and social justice, including the ability to mentor students from underrepresented backgrounds as per our Department’s Diversity Mission Statement (https://psyc.uark.edu/diversity) and our campus-wide strategic plan (http://diversity.uark.edu/); (5) an ability to supervise clinical work involving diverse cases (including children and families); and (6) effective interpersonal skills and a record of collegiality.

Our department houses a large undergraduate program (over 1,500 students), as well as two Ph.D. programs in Clinical Psychology and Experimental Psychology. The department has over 25 full-time faculty with a wide range of expertise in psychological science, 4 full-time administrative staff, over 40 doctoral students (PhD), and several postdoctoral fellows. The department is housed within Memorial Hall at the University of Arkansas. Memorial Hall contains four floors of faculty offices, laboratory space, classrooms, and a Psychological Clinic that serves as the primary training site for the Department’s fully-accredited Clinical Psychology Doctoral Training Program. The Department is also home to a major private endowment that generates over $250K/year to support its research mission. This endowment funds graduate research assistants, faculty research, summer pay for grant preparation, and other research-related expenses. Our clinical program has also been awarded a Graduate Psychology Education (GPE) program grant for four consecutive cycles; our current GPE grant is entitled Meeting the Moment: Preparing a Health Service Psychology Workforce that is Socially Responsive and Resilient. In addition, faculty have the opportunity to affiliate with related multidisciplinary programs across the university (e.g., Gender Studies, African and African American Studies, Asian Studies, Indigenous Studies, Latin American and Latino studies, Middle East Studies) as well as with the newly formed Institute for Integrative and Innovative Research (I3R). RADIANCE Summer Training Program

Dr. Victor Davila-Roman, PI PRIDE CVD-CGE, has received an R25 from NHLBI for a new summer training program. RADIANCE (SummeR reseArch DIversity ProgrAm iNCardiovascular Disease & Hematology) will be targeting Underrepresented Minority Undergraduate and Professional health-related (ie, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, etc) students. This is an 8-week program for up to 12 students/summer. Participants receive a stipend, travel to and from St. Louis and lodging while enrolled, and a free Metrolink transit pass.
