Pre and Postdoctoral Research Fellowships - Emory University

The Department of Epidemiology at the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University, is seeking pre- and postdoctoral fellows for a NHLBI-funded training grant in cardiovascular diseases and related conditions. The program focuses on broadly-defined health inequalities, including, among others, factors such as race/ethnicity, sex/gender, socioeconomic status, and geographical residence.


Housed in the Department of Epidemiology, the training program is affiliated with several other departments and schools including Public Health, Cardiology, Medicine, Nursing, and the Morehouse School of Medicine. The program combines training in graduate degree programs in the Rollins School of Public Health with multidisciplinary research experiences working with top investigators in cardiovascular sciences from diverse disciplines, from basic sciences to epidemiology, cardiology, genetics, interventions, and health policy. The training follows a mentor-based model with formal didactic work in areas relevant to research in cardiovascular health inequalities (e.g., statistics, epidemiology, social determinants of health, and cardiovascular physiology), and practical training in grantsmanship, research ethics, and career development.

Children's Healthy Weight Research Group Hiring Postdoctoral Fellow

The Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is currently seeking applications for a postdoctoral fellow to work on an NIH-funded clinical trial that aims to evaluate a multilevel early childhood obesity prevention initiative that addresses both the child care’s organizational-level healthy weight practices directed to children and providers’ ability to role model health-promoting behaviors.

This fellowship will provide training in conducting clinical trials, multi-level trial design, and remote delivery of lifestyle interventions. The fellowship will also allow for the development of writing and analysis skills.

Emphasis will be placed on leading original analyses and manuscripts, career development, and transition toward independent funding and an independent research career. This position offers a competitive salary, benefits, and travel and education opportunities in the rich interdisciplinary environment of the Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention.

Erik Willis, PhD, research scientist at HPDP, will direct the research program and training. Dianne Ward, EdD, FTOS, FACSM will provide additional mentorship.

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the Division of Hematology in the Department of Pediatrics of the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in either the tenure track or the non-tenure clinician-educator track to direct the CHOP Sickle Cell Program. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree and must have board certification in pediatric hematology-oncology (preferred) or medical hematology.

This individual will build upon our renowned Sickle Cell Disease program with the goal of further expanding our global reputation as a leader in research, education and treatment of hemoglobin disorders. The successful candidate will be a nationally-recognized leader in the field of non-malignant blood disorders and will have a track record of outstanding research accomplishments and extramural funding, demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.

K99/R00 Candidates Can Continue to Take Advantage of COVID-Related Eligibility Extensions

Under normal circumstances, individuals must have no more than four years of postdoctoral experience to be eligible to apply for a K99/R00 Pathway to Independence award. Due to ongoing disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, NIH will continue to allow up to a two year-receipt cycle eligibility extension for candidates on K99/R00 applications to parent announcements.
