We are seeking a senior (Associate or Full Professor) research-focused faculty member for a tenured or tenure track, Regular Title Series, full time (12 month) position in the Center for Health Equity Transformation (CHET) in the College of Medicine at the University of Kentucky. We seek a health equity research leader with a dynamic, productive research agenda that aims to eliminate inequities in cancer, cardiovascular disease, dementia and other related neurological conditions, diabetes and obesity, substance use, or other health conditions. CHET is a transdisciplinary research and training center focused on developing the most innovative and impactful research and training portfolio. This position is part of a university--wide interdisciplinary cluster hire in health equity.
The selected faculty member will be expected to conduct innovative, rigorous, grant-funded research and engage in scholarly activities (peer reviewed publications, presentations, etc.). The faculty member also will provide leadership in Center activities, including serving as CHET Associate Director of Research. Appointment as an Associate Professor with tenure will require a significant publication record and a strong, on-going record of extramural funding. The successful candidate will lead an experimental research program that primarily leverages model organisms (e.g., population reference mouse, fly or worm recombinant inbred panels) to explore the role of genetic variation in disease; candidates that combine this strategy with analysis of human cohorts would be particularly attractive. Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Somatic (nuclear or mitochondrial) or germline genetic variation
- Complex trait genetics of chronic disease (e.g., cardiometabolic disease)
